Pertamina operates an integrated end-to-end energy business, from upstream to downstream businesses. As an energy holding company under the Decree of the Minister of SOEs dated 12 June 2020, Pertamina's business focuses are generally to manage the business portfolio and synergy within Pertamina Group, accelerate the development of new businesses, and run national programs.

Meanwhile, several activities initially managed as the company's core businesses will be run by the newly established sub-holdings. Such sub-holdings will embrace the roles, including encouraging the implementation of operational excellence through the increase in scale and synergy among businesses, accelerating the development of business and existing business capability, and improving competence and flexibility in partnership and funding that will offer more significant benefits for the company.
